Game Farming
This has always been a dream for Nico, the father. During 1988 land was bought and 600 ha were game fenced.
To start off, the farm was stocked with common game such as Kudu and Impala. This hobby became very productive and soon marketing had to be established. Game is captured passively and sold as breeding groups. Bulls and rams with magnificent horns are sold to professional hunters. Although the farm started making money, the turnover was such that it could never maintain the farm financially. The only way to increase yield was to switch to more expensive, exclusive species.
The farm was expanded to 906 ha and other species were bought. Currently Nico is the proud producer of Sable antelope, Roan antelope, Tsessebe, Njala and other common game. He was awarded “Game Farmer of the Year” in 2003, and nominated for the same award in 2010.

The passive capturing process of the game ensures that the game is not subjected to dangerously high stress levels and an excelent mortality rate is guaranteed. |
